Welcome!

Hello! This blog is basically going to serve as a build thread of sorts for my 2002 Volvo C70 coupe. It's a hassle to post my progress with the car on so many various Facebook pages and forums, so this will be the place to come to check out my car and the stories of my life that will inevitably come along with it haha.

The star car!

A little background to start with. I'm a 24 year old pilot and car enthusiast, currently working as a first officer for a small regional airline called Cape Air. I haven't been with the company long, but I'm loving it so far! Great people and great planes to fly. I'm on the Cessna 402, which is really a blast to fly. However, my passion has always been cars.

I bought this C70 nearly 9 years ago now, about a month before my 16th birthday. I mowed lawns and did odd jobs for quite a few years, saving up my pennies to buy my first car. Never necessarily had my heart set on a Volvo, but then this one turned up at the local dealer. I knew I had to have it as soon as I saw it! I'm not one to get rid of things, and 9 years later, I have absolutely no plans of selling my Volvo.

It is starting to show its age now, which isn't surprising as it is 14 years old now. It had around 34k miles on it when I took delivery, now it's about 114k. We've been through a lot together, moved out of my parents house to college, helped me pay rent delivering sandwiches for Jimmy Johns, had my first date with my soon-to-be fiance, and really just done a lot of living and growing up behind the wheel of this thing. Hopefully you can see why it's a bit sentimental to me.

Anyways, now is the time to finally start turning it into my dream car. I've always taken good care of it, washed nearly every week, religious oil changes at 3k miles, but it definitely needs some work. My parents saw this, and helped me lease a Japanese econobox to drive during the last couple years of college. That saved me a lot of money in fuel, but sitting in the garage unused did the C70 no favors... Now that I've graduated college and have a decent job, the fun can really begin!! This blog is being started to document all the fun...

So stick around and enjoy, please leave comments on any tips or tricks, things you'd like to see, etc. Thanks for reading!

Next post will show some of the things I've done to the car already, how it sits now, and plans for the future.
